Netblitz '07

The program included many events like

Cynosure – Technical Conference on Networking

Showwiz – Technical Quiz on Networking

Spin-Net – Workshop

Smash the Bug – Java Debugging Contest

Combat Zone – Network Gaming

The chief guest for the event was Mr. Lokesh Mehra who is the Regional Manager - Corporate Responsibility ( South Asia), for Cisco Systems. We were also privileged to have Mr Jagan J, who is the Area Academy Manager - India & SAARC, for Cisco Systems, to deliver an invited lecture.

The first day had technical sessions taken by our guests and distinguished faculties from our sister campus in Coimbatore. They provided a great deal of insight on the ever changing technology and advanced topics related to networking. This was just the appetizer because the real banquet was the Quiz which was hosted by our own charismatic faculty. It was knowledge gained through entertainment and such knowledge is always deemed never forgotten. The day also showcased the battle of wits in the Java debugging contest and the grit shown by tough contenders for supremacy in Network gaming.

On the second day, we had another technical session by one of the most admired staff in the campus. This was followed by the Technical workshop – the main event in the entire show. It was a hands-on laboratory session where the participants could learn how to tinker with the gizmos that hold the Internet that we know so well, together.

The prime aim from the two days workshop was to enlighten participants with the latest trends emerging in the field of networking and make them aware of the world inside networking. This aim was well accomplished as the presentations given by the eminent personalities and the workshops where all the participants got hands on lab sessions on technologies like NAT/PAT, ACL, WLAN, and VLAN were welcomed open heartedly. The participants also got a chance to try their technical knowledge in the quiz program also test their technical skills in JAVA. Another interesting program which attracted a whole hearted attention of the participants was the network gaming contest where teams from various colleges came and fought for the much wanted coveted prize.

Apart from the technical sessions, the ambience, the hospitability, food and the ashram atmosphere was well welcomed by the participants and we are sure such magnificent experience would imbibe in their hearts for a long time. Netblitz ’07 was successful primarily due to the coordination and organization of the students of the Cisco Academy. Also the huge and active participation rendered by the participants gave us the much needed zest to do our best which we hope we’ll continue to get in the years to come.
