Report on Spin-Net
“Go for a spin with the masters...”
We at Cisco Academy believe that nothing has a much everlasting impression than hands on experience in this world of networking. Thus we came up with the idea of the workshop sessions where we made sure that every individual participant was given the chance to lay their hands on the real Cisco systems, in order to get a wholesome experience.
The participants were divided into smaller groups so that they could effectively attend all the sessions. We had the following workshops conducted this year:-
1) ACL - Access Control Lists:- The participants learnt how to Plan, configure, and apply standard ACL and extended ACL to filter network to network, host to network, and network to host traffic and test the ACL to determine if the desired results were achieved.
2) NAT & PAT: here the participants got to learn as how to configure a router for Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Address Translation (PAT) and Test the configuration and verify NAT/PAT statistics.
3) VLAN: the participants experienced the creation and verification of a basic switch configuration. They Created & configured multiple VLANs, named them and assigned multiple member ports to them. Further they were taught how Create an 802.1q trunk line between the switch and router to allow communication between VLANs and test the routing functionality.
4) WLAN: The participants were encouraged to bring along with them their own WiFi enabled laptops. Here they Designed and built Wireless LAN in a real time manner.
