Cisco Academy

Cisco Systems are the world leaders in computer networking. Companies worldwide need skilled and talented people to be successful in the technology industry. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus has teamed with CISCO Systems, Inc., to become a Local CISCO Networking Academy. The CCNA programme was launched at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri in September 2004 and has been offering regular CCNA certification classes since then. This year the campus has also initiated a training programme on Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform.



 

 




 

The role of the Regional Academy to train and support a number of Local Academies within their designated region. The Network Academy programme represents a paradigm shift for education. Network Academy programme does realise these, while also recognising the importance of providing students with practical, useful and measurable skills. The programme not only assesses student skills, it also quantitatively assesses itself on a continual basis to ensure that curriculum use and development, student achievement and programme administration meeting or exceeding expectations.

The Cisco Networking Academy Program exists in more than 9800 Academies located in high schools, technical schools, colleges, universities, international organizations, and community-based organizations around the world.


Launched in 1997, there are now over 10,000 networking academies in over 149 countries. Over 230,000 students are currently enrolled and over 117,000 graduated have gone through the programme world-wide.


In 2002 Cisco Systems expanded the networking academy curriculum to include courses sponsored by IT industry leaders - Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems and Panduit.
