Final year projects, 2008
For the first time in the history of Amrita University, a collaborative student project has been started with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Texas at Austin. Three students from IT Department, Amrita Univeristy, Amritapuri Campus and two from UT Austin has started two collaborative research projects - one for the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) and other in E-Learning. Ashwathy Prasad and Meera Gopakumar of S8IT are doing their final year project Solar Charger for OLPC with the ECE students of UT Austin. Chithra S Pai of the same batch is involved in another project - E-Learning with the same department of UT Austin. Projects are in a good progress and because of its research nature, the project will be carried out in the next subsequent years with the next batch of students. A feature of these projects is that both are interdisciplinary - involves both the hardware and software input. Two final year students - Arun Kumar G K and Sandeep Chandrasekaran from Electronics and Communication Engineering department at Amritapuri Campus are also involved in the E-Learning project.
