Department of Information Technology currently offers 4 year B.Tech degree programme in Information Technology branch of engineering. This programme focuses on the software and application development part in the area of information technology. A student completing this programme would be able to design and develop a software application according to the requirements given by a user. As this branch is closer to the software development the syllabi and curricula is updated frequently in every three years so as to meet the industrial requirements. From the 5th semester itself, the students are given wide range of elective in the area of sciences & computers that also includes the interdisciplinary courses offered by the other branches of engineering. For example, in the 6th or 7th semesters, a student from this programme is free to choose a course like Embedded Systems or Computer Graphics offered by Electronics / Computer Science departments. The recommendations of the ACM Computing Curricula are also referred at the time of updating the curriculum.
