Amrita School of Engineering

Amrita School of Engineering was started in 2002 as "Amrita Institute of Technology & Science" with a vision to produce quality engineers with service attitude for the benefit of the society and nation. The school was conceived of as the grooming ground for future engineering professionals of India. Initially it had only three branches: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Technology. It was then affiliated to the University of Kerala.

Though now it is only 4 years since the school has begun, it has now a faculty strength of more than 100, including some faculty members who were earlier associated with various premier institutes in India and abroad, especially from the US. The School has adopted credit based course curricula, with a industry oriented syllabus where appropriate. Highly qualified and technically experienced faculty members, state of the art facilities, and the rich industry-academia interaction make engineering education at Amrita a unique and enriching experience. What makes Amrita School of Engineering at Amritapuri campus, most special among all Amrita campuses is that it is located in close proximity to the Ashram headquarters. Amma is the greatest inspiration for all. The students have an opportunity to get direct guidance and support from Amma. Imbibing and practising Amma's message of love and selfless service is an on-going process in which all the students and members of staff wholeheartedly participate. As a result, learning is made a festive experience at Amrita. Under Amma's benign guidance they grow to be socially responsible citizens of our country.
