Uniform
While recognising that personal tastes and styles may vary considerably, the university has established a dress code which all students are expected to the purpose of these guidelines is not to dictate strict conformity or to create oppressive restrictions. They are designed, rather, to encourage standards of modesty appropriate to a campus life at an educational institution and standards of personal appearance that will be expected for many students in their chosen professions. Students should be aware that individual faculty or departments might adopt additional standards for dress/appearance, particularly when students are representing the university in internship or placement opportunities, or for laboratories or on university-affiliated trips. Mature attitudes of respect and cooperation are expected in following any such guidelines.
a) Students shall wear their full uniform on all Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays and for all campus events. On civil dress days boys shall wear pants and shirt and girls shall wear sari or churidhar.
b) Uniforms should strictly conform to the pattern specified. Tucking out the shirt and rolling up the shirt sleeves are not permitted.
c) Apparel with provocative/suggestive language, or inappropriate advertising, is prohibited.
d) Wearing clothing that is torn, or has holes (even if unintentional), is not permitted.
e) Hair should be kept clean, well groomed and modestly styled.
e) Students shall wear their identity cards around their neck so as to clearly display their identity within the campus and maybe required to surrender them on demand by authorities.
f) Students shall be present for the Morning Prayer and shall participate in the prayers at the beginning of the day.
g) Students will arrive on time to the school and refrain from leaving early unless prior permission has been granted. Students who wish to stayback at the school after 6.30 p.m. shall register their names with the staff in
charge for stay back for the day before 5.00 p.m. on the same day. Such work shall normally be permitted until 8.00 p.m. only. Students who opt for stay back shall not leave before 8:00 p.m.
h) Students shall in general obtain prior permission in writing from the authoritiesfor leaving the campus during class hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30p.m.)
i) Hanging out in the hallways during class hours, even when classes are not in session is not permitted. Students are expected to spend their after class hours productively in the labs, library or reading room and are advised
not to hang around in the classrooms or anywhere outside engaged in unnecessary and lengthy conversations.
j) Littering or spitting in the classrooms, hallways, playgrounds or the garden area are unacceptable. Students shall cooperate in keeping the campus clean and tidy.
k) Students shall use appropriate language and etiquette at all times.
l) Students are expected to behave respectfully towards members of the faculty,staff and all other students in all their interactions with them. Challenges or harassment of faculty, staff members or other students, either verbal or otherwise including inappropriate gestures, by students are unacceptable. All acts of physical violence will be dealt with severely.
m) Interactions between boys and girls are expected to be within acceptable norms of our culture and tradition.
n) Students are required to maintain 80% attendance and maintain a serious attitude regarding their own achievement including the completion of all assignments in a timely manner.
o) Each student will accept responsibility for his/her own ademic success.
p) No food or beverages are allowed in classrooms, laboratory, library, reading or tutoring room unless prior permission has been granted.
q) Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on the campus premises. Tobacco represents a definite health hazard and therefore its use in any form will not be tolerated.
r) Consumption of Alcoholic beverages and any form of substance abuse is strictly prohibited and will be severely dealt with.
s) Possessing any content of obscene nature is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.
t) Students shall bring to the campus only those articles required for academic or co-curricular activities. They shall not bring to the class devices like stereos, walkmans, radios, cameras, musical instruments etc unless otherwise a written permission has been obtained from the concerned authorities.
u) Students shall not possess any telecommunication devices like mobile phones within the campus or in the hostel.
v) Students shall take responsibility for all their belongings themselves.
w) Students are advised to speak in English, without compulsion or coercion inorder to acquire proficiency in the use of the language.
x) Irrespective of where they go, students shall behave in a manner befitting a student of an educational institution. They shall always remember that the institution would be judged by their conduct.
