Academic year and Semesters
An academic year (July to June) consists of two semesters and possibly a summer term. An academic program is organized around a credit system. Each semester has a minimum of 75 instruction days and about 8-10 days for the semester examinations including practical.

What is a credit based academic system?
A credit based system is a systematic way of describing an educational programme ( B.Tech / B.Sc / M.Sc.) by attaching credits to its components. Credit is a way of quantifying the knowledge content- a sort of a currency or value for the knowledge acquired which could be credited. When enough credits are accrued or earned, the program is completed successfully.

Credit System makes educational programmes easy to understand and compare both nationally and internationally. It facilitates mobility, academic flexibility and universality and helps universities to organize as well as recognize their study programmes quickly. It can be used across a variety of programmes and modes of delivery.
